Perseverance is the capacity to keep going long after the passion for our work has dissipated. It is a continuous and conscious choice not  to give up, no matter how difficult the circumstances.  The Chinese character for perseverance is a knife over a human heart.

Can we allow our hearts to be cut open by setbacks, criticism and loss? Can compassion arise even in the harshest settings?  Drawing on wisdom, we explore how to confront the dominant energies of our time - aggression, anxiety, and fear - in a way that allows us to do good work, serve others, and care for ourselves, even when exhausted and overwhelmed. In this retreat you will develop the capacity to work with these conditions and dynamics, while practicing discernment and acting wisely.

Margaret Wheatley is a well-respected writer, speaker and teacher for how we can accomplish our work, sustain our relationships and willingly step forward to serve in this troubling time.  She has written six books:  Walk Out Walk On (with Deborah Frieze, 2011), Perseverance (2010), Leadership and the New Science, Turning to One Another:  Simple Conversations to Restore Hope to the Future, A Simpler Way (with Myron Rogers), and Finding Our Way:  Leadership for an Uncertain Time.  Each of her books has been translated into several languages; Leadership and the New Science appears in 18 languages.
